Hot Off the Presses – Skills Workshop (June 21, 2014)
There are still a few spaces available in this unique hands-on workshop during the annual Conference.
The Strathmore Standard at Heritage Park Historical Village preserves the history of a typical prairie newspaper plant and office. Trades Interpreters demonstrate the operation of an 1870 Wharfedale Press, a 1910 linotype, a platen press and other historic equipment. In this full-day workshop, you will spend the day learning how to operate various kinds of equipment, under the guidance of skilled Journeymen. You’ll learn how to set type for a headline, assemble a newspaper page and operate the platen press. Check the conference guide for full details or visit www.alhfam.org to register.
